“Bust the Winter Blues” Winter Festival Events - In partnership with the Flin Flon Recreation Commission, the Creighton Recreation Commission, and the Friendship Centre participates in the “Bust the Winter Blues” Winter Festival, with a goal to promote active living and Aboriginal Culture.  Activities include:  Much Music Teen Dance; Family Dance; Family Curling Bonspiel; Sliding Party and Cribbage Tournament.

National Addictions Awareness Week – As a participant on the National Addictions Awareness Week Committee, we assist with coordinating community addiction free activities.

Cribbage Night – Commencing in the Fall, this program is held Monday evenings in the Friendship Centre Main Hall, at 7:00 pm… weekly cash prizes!

Volunteer Recognition – Volunteers are the Root of our organization. The Friendship Centre maintains a broad volunteer base to assist with fundraising, programs and events. Volunteers are recognized throughout the year with special recognition on Volunteer Appreciation Day.

Cultural Presentations – The Centre accommodates public requests for Cultural Presentations. Presentations vary from teaching and tasting traditional foods to learning traditional teachings and crafts.

Spring & Fall Cultural Community Courses – The Centre offers seasonal craft courses on demand such as Soapstone Carving, Caribou Hair Tufting and Cree Language Lessons.

Camp Moochikun – A Summer Day Camp program for young individuals ages 4-11.  Children are provided an opportunity to interact with their peers in a positive and fun filled atmosphere, taught the importance of education through reading and writing programs, and the importance of culture through Culture Week.  The Camp Director and Leaders are positive role models and mentors for the children, gaining valuable work experience.

Friendship Play Day – Culture, Sand, Chill Out, Building, Games, Art, and Cooking Zones are coordinated to encourage creativity and active living in a safe environment.  The activities are designed for children 12 and under.

Santa’s Workshop – The Friendship Centre coordinates a Community Christmas Party sponsored by the Business Builders Committee featuring games, crafts, complimentary snack and an appearance from Santa.

Women of Honor – The Friendship Centre works in partnership with other community agencies to coordinate the Women of Honor Awards Ceremony, recognizing exceptional women within our community.

Bursaries - Through the graciousness of the late Arthur Wahlenberg, three Education Bursaries are offered annually; one Bursary is awarded to a Graduating Student from Hapnot Collegiate, one Bursary is awarded to a Graduating Student from Many Faces Education Centre, and one Bursary is awarded to a Graduating Student from Creighton High School.

Emergency Services – Pending the situation, the Friendship Centre is available to assist with Emergency Services.

National Aboriginal Day – each year the Friendship Centre coordinates activities to create awareness of and celebrate National Aboriginal Day.

Liaison Services
Our Liaison Services embodies a wide spectrum of services for Clients and Community with respect to Social, Health and Justice determinants. 

In terms of Justice, our Liaison Services Worker is the delivery agent for the Fine Option and Community Service Order Program and coordinates placements for Alternative Measures Programs for Flin Flon and Creighton.  In addition to Client placement and monitoring for these Programs, the Liaison Services Worker (LSW) attends court on a regular basis Client assistance and advocacy.  The LSW is also a participant on the Community Justice Committee. 

With respect to Social and Health issues, our Liaison Services Worker is considered a first point of entry, assisting individuals attain their Social Insurance Numbers, Birth Certificates, applications for Housing, Health Registration cards, MMF membership applications, Treaty application information, Income assistance, Indian-Residential School Registration Forms, as well as referrals for Mental Health, Public Health, Addictions, Legal Aid, and Women’s Safe Haven services.
